HAMMERS LOSE TO WONDER GOAL
West Ham United has been defeated by Tottenham Hotspur in a Premier League match played at the Boleyn Ground on Monday. It was a close game and the Spurs won it by 3-2. With the help of this win, the Spurs have now gone ahead of Chelsea in the points table.
Before this match, they were at no. 4, but, now, they have moved up one position and they are at no. 3 with 51 points in 27 matches. However, Chelsea is not too far behind them. The Blues have 49 point in 27 matches.
On the other hand, because of this defeat, West Ham United has moved down in the points table. The Hammers are now at no. 14 with 30 points in 27 matches.
This match was an absolute thriller and at one point of time, it was heading towards a draw. But, Gareth Bale’s sensational strike in the last minute of the match turned the match in Tottenham’s favour. It was Bale’s 15th goal in the tournament.
Thomas Carroll gave Bale a wonderful pass at a distance of 25 yards from the goal. Bale controlled the ball and moved it onto the left foot before smashing it home. It was a great shot and the West ham goalie couldn’t have done much. This goal stunned the home supporters who were thinking that their team would get at least one point from this match.
This was Bale’s second goal in the match. Earlier, he had given Tottenham a lead of 1-0 by finding the net in the 13th minute of the match.
In the post match press conference, the manager of Tottenham Andre Villas Boas looked extremely satisfied with this win. He said, “We had scored a last minute goal in our last match as well and we did it again today. This shows that the boys are fighting right till the end. It was really a satisfying victory for us.”
West Ham United will face Stoke City in its next match on 2nd of March at the Britannia Stadium.
