Insua happy to join LA Galaxy
Former Liverpool defender Emiliano Insua has spoken about the situations that led to his departure from Stuttgart and the move to LA Galaxy. The interest from LA Galaxy in the Argentine defender cropped up back in November and Galaxy were keen to sign him even if manager Guillermo Barros Schelotto did not know him on a personal basis. Both have played for Boca Juniors, butGuillermo left the club by the timeInsua was breaking through into the first-team. Since then,Insua has had a rollercoaster ride in the world of football.
The 31-year-old has represented the likes of Liverpool, Sporting Lisbon, and Atletico Madrid. However, he was playing in the second division of the German football as a result of the VFB Stuttgart being relegated. As one of the crucial members of the squad,Insua was also on a high wage packet that prevented Stuttgart from becoming financially stable. Once the interest from LA Galaxy,Insua quickly jumped at the possibility and he has not looked back. The defender has admitted that it was a difficult decision for him to leave European football after having been part of it since 2007 when he joined Liverpool on a loan deal. However, he has now claimed that going to a big club like Liverpool initially in his career was not the right choice.
“I didn’t have any relationship with him before, but of course I knew him as a player and a coach before. A great coach with Lanus and Boca Juniors. He called me before I came here, he was one of the biggest parts in me coming. He told me about the squad, he told me the support he has in me. I found in him a very good coach and a very good person. The stadium, the facilities, the medical staff and everyone around the team is perfect,” said the defender.
