Reports in England reveals that German star MesutOzil has held talks with MLS outfit DC United regarding a transfer to the club.

It is understood that the DC United are searching for a marquee signing that can replace the outgoing Wayne Rooney. The club had earlier announced that Rooney would be leaving the club to Derby County in January.

Rooney impact at the club was huge and the DC United are convinced that Ozil can replicate a similar impact at the club. it is understood that Ozil’s agent ErgutSogut was in Washington this week to discuss terms with the club.

Sogut met at DC United representatives Jason Levein and Sam Porter who subsequently took the agent on a tour of the stadium. DC United are favoring a move in January as this would coincide with the departure of Rooney.

Ozil endured criticism from the media last season and was dropped by manager Unai Emery for key games. The 30-year-old is the highest-paid player at the club and was linked with a move all summer.

Arsenal have been looking to offload the player off their wage books and this could be the opportunity for a transfer.

Meanwhile, Ozil and teammate SaedKolasinac have been cleared to feature in the weekend clash against Everton. Both players had been the subject of a carjacking attempt last month.

London police increase security around their homes in the aftermath due to fears of a reprisal attack on the players. This was also the reason why the players did not travel to Saint James Park last week for the game against Newcastle.

Manager Unai Emery confirmed in a press conference that the players have been involved with training and will be ready to play against Everton at the Emirates on Saturday.
